Such a completely unexpected news article coming from BTCC that Subaru have entered the BTCC with the Levorg being driven by Jason Plato and Colin Turkington
I have found my new favourite team for 2016 and really looking forwards to the season opener at Brands Hatch on the 2-3rd April

It appears that Mountune will be sorting the engine side of things according to autosport (Thanks for the link !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! )

Not entirely surpising, since Subaru seems to want to diversify their motorsport entries. I would not have guessed Levorg though.

out of their line up it is the one that makes the most sense, especially from a marketing stand point, being a new vehicle in their line up having the motorsport coverage will be a great ad campaign providing it’s successful

I wish the name was levarg, because that’s the word gravel backwards.... Either way, I’ll hold on to my Outback XT until this is available in the U.S.

My money would have been on the STI à la Nurburgring. However, I’m glad to see that the Levorg will be getting more exposure in the public eye.

Big surprise, really love the car!

Levarg doesn’t sound as good as Levorg though imho, but at least Levorg has a meaning behind it

I hope they chose the wagon for it’s aerodynamic properties and not just marketing reasons.
They could use the more compact hatch (aka XV) or the more rigid saloon (aka WRX STI) as well after all.
The car will be powered by a 2 liter turbo boxer supplied by mountune (!) and rear wheel drive, by the way.
Really looking forward to season 2016 now!

Have you got any source on the Mountune engine that will be used?

I like gravel backwards... especially if they entered it into some sort of rally competitions. I agree Levorg sounds better, and does stand for something.... but that’s not the kind of marketing that makes me want to buy it.

hopefully the car won’t see gravel backwards this season if you catch my drift lol

Really good news for the BTCC and BMR for that matter. Proper manufacturer effort from Subaru can only be good for both.
And sorry to be anal, but the Donington event is actually just a media day (AM media only, PM public testing). The season opener for racing is still April at Brands.

I thought it was going to be brands so got slightly confused when I saw donnington on the calendar page as the season opener, didn’t see anything mentioning it just being a media day.
updated the post now for that

Yeah I see what you mean. Well I mean you can go see BTCC cars at Donington that afternoon, but from memory its like a thursday so not exactly the best time, and its not quite the same a race. I went a couple of years ago and was quite good because it was fairly quiet crowd wise, and the paddock was open with almost all the drivers there so not bad.

Wow this is awesome! I bet this is going to look mean in person! Looks like Subaru is taking an interest in touring cars with this and also their entry in the TCR series. Perhaps Subaru is warming up for an entry in WTCC?

Who knows? Currently in putting this dien purely as a marketing exercise in the UK for the brand and car
