That is a must for these cars as well as any truck. Eagles, trucks, and any (real) SUV are utilitarian vehicles at thier core. if you take away the benefit of sidewall flex and cushion, you’re turning the vehicle into something less than it was intended to be.
I could even live with the split 5 -spoke wheels in the first couple of pics with the narrow whites on them. Rubberbands aren’t becoming on a car that’s supposed to be able to take on anything.
