You monsters are just letting them die. Won’t anyone think of the plight of the quarter carwashes?

I used one today so...

These things are awesome! I just stopped caring about how great a rusted, dented, beaten-up car looks. It won’t get any better.

Bah, peasant. I have my own equipment.

They’re dying? They’re everywhere near me and they’re always busy. I use them all the time. I sure would miss them if they disappeared.

Besides a handful of gas stations in which these things are $5 for 10 mins around me there is one place that has 3 individual bays about 20 mins away. The lines are long and during the winter it’s shut down because it’s all outside.
What I wouldn’t give for an indoor wash bay. I would gladly pay $10 to bring my car in. Until then long gloves and rinseless washing for me.

I keep spending my quarters on crack.

They sure as hell aren't dying here

There used to be 10 within a reasonable driving distance from my house. Now there are two, and the closest one, which is pictured, only has one functional bay.

This is the correct answer. About a $250 investment for hoses, small pressure washer, shop-vac, microfibres, etc. Never need to wait in line again.

As did I
![]() 01/07/2016 at 20:37 |

Quarter? Last I checked you couldnt get a wash for less than 5 or 6 bucks.
![]() 01/07/2016 at 20:37 |

theres 3 of them 10 min from my house in every direction...
![]() 01/07/2016 at 20:38 |

They only take quarter dollar coins of domestic US currency.

They are quickly dissapearing on places where property values & land are going up. I used to have 6 coin-wash places within a 10 mile radius of my home 5 years ago. (CA- Silicon Valley) and now we are down to 2 places. And yes, some of us Peasants cannot buy the $250 washing kit not because it doesnt make sense, but because we live in apartments that forbid washing & working in your car on the premises.

There are none within 20 Minutes of my house, no shitty (but useful) touchless gas station ones either. Dense population too.
It’s bullshit. I’m in a car wash desert.

There was one in my neighborhood, it is now a parking lot for Skyline
![]() 01/07/2016 at 20:42 |

Theres 10 of them in a half mile radius and I never used one lol.

There’s only one good one in Jersey i know of

There hasn’t been a coinop here since I moved in (6 years ago). There was a touchless but it turned into bank a couple years ago.
There’s a number of conveyor brush ones, but the staff struggle with the clutch on one of my cars and two of them don’t clear the track bars. Plus they’re all expensive for a sub par wash.

Thats a lot of quarters.

Places like the AutoBuffs barns have replaced car washes like that. With AutoBuffs, your car coasts through and all of these machines heavily clean the car for you (rainbow foam, big brushes, etc.) Oh, and they also have vacuums.

There’s one a couple blocks from my house. I’ve never used it, and I don’t plan to. I’m too lazy to do it myself.

Still a bunch here. But I live in southeast Michigan where land is cheap and salt is everywhere. I’m glad they’re still around, it’s nice to be able to rinse the road salt off during the winter without having to go through the dumb drive-thru ones with the flappy brush wheels.

They’re kinda dying by me. They’re being replaced with “$3” Tunnel Washes. The good thing is Free vacuums!
![]() 01/07/2016 at 21:10 |

That’s unfortunate. They’re readily available in the Dayton, OH area. We also still have three drive-in movie theaters in the area too. Maybe we are just nostalgic around here.

I dunno if it’s big where anybody else lives, but the big thing where I live is the ‘3 dollar carwash’ that actually pulls you through it and has free vacuums. We have 2 already and will soon have 2 more. This is for a town with less than 70k people. They have caused the old quarter washes to die out. The kicker though is that it is indeed 3 bucks.... If you want the cheap one that only washes and rinses and doesn’t dry your car off. If you want the full works, it’s $12. We only have 2 decent quarter washes left. This is what our society has become, though.

There are no more self serve car washes near me especially the coin operated ones. Last time I used a machine, my bumper crack got worse.

I’m always in line at mine

I have one less than a mile from my house......I’m so glad as it’s too damn cold in the winter to hand wash around here.

because I have a pressure washer at home that works better

Here in Jersey they are a dying breed, where would i go and wash the mud off my jeep after a day off road? It doesn’t fit in automatic car washer
