So not much has happened in between all the holidays. Still waiting on parts to arrive from overseas so I can rebuild the suspension. Meanwhile to allow for storage of the car and for it not to be in the way my dad rigged up a electric car hoist. Short version an electric winch pulls up on the cables to lift the body or body/frame out of the way, its nice and simple when the car weighs next to nothing. Good news is I get to steal this to remove the body off my Mali come spring when he is finished the body work.

I’ve read over a few of your posts and I’m pretty impressed by your dad’s ingenuity. Seems he always has a creative solution to problems. Any chance he’s an engineer of some sort?

He actually has a degree in physics and he mostly did electrical engineering. But his uncle who he spent a lot of tone with worked for beechcraft as a ME and passed on tons of knowledge. Engineering runs deep in the family.

Very cool. I’m an ME and worked for a physics PhD guy for a while. He was always coming up with crazy/effective/cool solutions to problems. Some of the pics you uploaded reminded me of that so I thought I’d ask.
More importantly, keep bringing us the awesome Europa updates! I love seeing restorations in progress.

Nice! Did a similar thing with ratchet winches and my spitfire’s body, but it ended up being low enough to smack my head on so a lot less of a complete solution...
