For why?

Aren’t these more or less a Ford Escape?
![]() 01/04/2016 at 17:08 |

Yes, and they were equally as shit. I own both a Jag and a Land Rover but I would never be insane enough to own one of those. Even I have my limits on how much punishment I’m willing to put up with.

The Escape used the Freelander’s chassis after Ford bought Land Rover but that’s about it when it comes to crossover between the two vehicles.

Gotcha, that makes more sense.

I almost bought one.....in retrospect, I feel that I dodged a bullet.

Family friends of mine who live in Spain have one of those. Imported from the UK, with like 30,000 kilometers or something on it. Don’t think its ever broken down badly.

Sorry but I have to disagree, the Freelander engineering was started by Rover then finished by BMW and released in 1997.
Ford engineered the Escaped out of the Mazda GF platform “626” and realeased the Escape in 2000
Ford bought Range Rover from BMW in 2000 so there’s no way they could have based the Escape on engineering they didn't have

Yes, we in the UK are awfully sorry about that.
![]() 01/04/2016 at 18:22 |

Yup. And they're absolutely terrible.

I have a thing for small 2 door wannabe jeeps. This would never be a consideration when amigos and rav-4 are so much better

Land Rover, a Series, or Defender, nothing else is worth mentioning, not less having
![]() 01/04/2016 at 21:27 |

Yes, unfortunately. Everything about them is garbage.

Freeloader!

The diesels were decent enough, the viscous couplings are a common issue.

Nice try, re-badged Isuzu Amigo.
