Over the last few years I’ve done a lot of work on my house. I saved all the metals out in my shed. Tomorrow I may be building a shack as a service garage and want the space in the shed for tools so I finally dragged ask the crap out and loaded up the wagon. I was there for about 5 minutes and one of the other people there goes ‘what are you doing bringing scrap in an Audi ?!?’ I told him it has a ton FJ storage space and adjustable suspension to get thru all the mud and pot holes in the scrap yard. He looked funny at the car and then asked how much I paid for it. The look on his face was priceless. I’m guessing it was probably pretty close to what he paid for his beat up Chevy

I miss zee old Allroads. *sigh*

I just recently got my first actual pickup truck, and I’ve found the utility is very much in disposal of messy, bulky items. The ability to toss old oil jugs, rotted old pressure treated wood, rusty scrap metal, soiled cloth, and myriad other filthy messy types of garbage, without having to worry about staining the interior of a car, is priceless.

10/10 would take Audi over Chevy. Both are nightmares, one is just way more fun.

Absolutely. I hauled truckloads of horsehair plaster to the dump in my old truck which I never would have done in a wagon

Well you can get them for CHEAP

I remember what we paid for ours, but that was many years ago. It’s long gone/sold now.
If someone buys my 520d I may go for something like this:

Mine is an 03 6 speed

I don’t know about that. With the 300+ horsepower, a factory locking rear diff, less weight than any modern Audi, and an engine I can fix with a couple of wrenches, my GMC trash hauler is more fun than any Audi I’ve ever driven.

If you were to sell it now, would you let it go for less than $3500? That’s my point there.

Just saying....

People are so clueless to the depreciation of euro luxury cars.

I bought it about 7 months ago for $3,200, so yeah, if I didn’t need a truck anymore I’d let it go for $3,500. I could have bought any number of 60s era Ford or Dodges for even less, but I like how the old GMs look. Nothing beats the cheapness of old trucks. Parts are dirt cheap and they’re incredibly easy to work on. You can also get 300+ hp out of them for pennies. What’s your point?

You got a good deal. That would get me a rolling chassis.

Do you have the gray or the green interior? There’s one the same color as yours in East Providence with the green interior, but I’ve seen ‘em both ways.

How cheap is cheap?

I'm in AZ, so we have plentiful cars as they basically last forever. This one has a good amount of body rust, so it's not perfect, but it runs like a top. I also picked up a running Corvair, a running E30, and a running 4wd Subaru Loyale within the last two years all for under $1,200.

I’m in South Carolina, so rust isn’t really an issue either, but we do have the truck tax.

livestock. I CAN put sheep in my FieSTa, but I’d much rather put them in my GFs Tacoma.

It was more like this

Yea I wish I had a photo of the house hair plaster in my sport trac. There’s no way in hell I would have put it inside any vehicle

Grey

It’s really a good deal. It looks like a $30k car but it only cost 1/10th that. It’s in near perfect condition

That looks familiar. Do you have the heated steering wheel? Comes on automatically when you turn on the heated seats...also, your seat heaters go up to 6 for some reason when 3 is SUPER HOT.
Also, do you have the solar panel moonroof?
![]() 01/02/2016 at 18:31 |

I don’t think it’s heated. I’m pretty sure it’s a regular sun roof as well. It’s an ‘03. The heated seats are nice tho

Not too shabby. I hate to ask, though, but what have the maintenance costs been like? Have you replaced the air suspension with something a bit more reliable?
![]() 01/02/2016 at 20:33 |
|
Yeah, I'll definitely take the allroad over that.

I just got it Sunday. I pick up my first air ride replacement air bag on Monday. I’ll be sure to post pictures of that adventure
![]() 01/02/2016 at 20:45 |

You definitely got a sweet deal on that
BUT!
![]() 01/02/2016 at 21:28 |

Rather than sticking with air bags, is there any way to switch it out for something that doesn’t adjust?
![]() 01/02/2016 at 22:00 |

yea but i feel like that takes away half of what is the allroad
