I went and picked up a load of dirt today. It was super wet and heavy. My guess is there was 1000 to 1500 lbs of dirt. But man that straight 6 these Ford’s have, have got some grunt. They may not go fast, but they always go.

Ya know what, we got one of these dumb things for when we were chipping shredding back when, and after 10 loads it had paid for itself multiple times over. There were a few gotchas to keep it working smooth (like keeping the load from getting in front of the wheel protrusions into the bed), but holy shit if you do this on any kinda periodic schedule.

(Maybe you could find better than Harbor for the thing.)

Yup my truck is for working. I was helping a friend haul away his old deck. He had barrowed a truck from a guy he works with. It’s an older late 80’s early 90’s style Chevy Truck. My friend was under strict orders not to scratch the paint. The owner had spent about $10k to get the truck painted a deep black, and he spends hours polishing it to avoid swirl marks. My friend was surprised he was even loaned the truck, the guy had intended to help us out but had a conflict. My friend was the first person to drive the truck since the guy got it painted.

My friend and another guy he works with spent hours meticulously checking each board for nails, and carefully laying them on a tarp, being carefully not to slide the first few board in for fear of moving the tarp and scuffing the paint.

Mean while I yanked my topper off in his back yard and was throwing the wood into the bed of my truck as fast as I could pick it up. I single handedly removed my topper, loaded up the truck and delivered two loads to the dump. In that same time, they loaded up the borrowed truck once went to the dump. plus they had a pile of nails. In the end they gave up, and gave me a hand throwing the lumber into my truck figuring 3 of us and my truck would be more efficient then me alone and the 2 of them with the 'queen' truck.
