An advantage of owning your own house is that you can run industrial floor sanders from 8-10:30pm and no one cares. A disadvantage of owning an old house is the need to run industrial floor sanders from 8-10:30pm because that is the time you can make in your schedule for that particular project.

I still need to get in the corners and do the other detail sanding the big sanders couldn’t do. But I have plenty of time given I can’t polyurethane the floor until I have a dry couple days in a row, and that won’t happen for a while here in New England.

I love that our houses seem to have evolved equally awkwardly over time. I sanded half of my upstairs and painted it white - it looks awesome. Three years later and I still haven't finished the rest.

I built 90% of my kitchen at after 2:00 AM after my work shifts. I would come home, go to the bedroom, get the wife to put in earplugs, I’d pop in earbuds, the cat would sit on the ladder and I’d go to town until about 6-7AM and then go to bed. On the weekends I’d do stuff that involved cutting material outside and then work until the next morning.

It the vent stack for the plumbing. House was built without indoor plumbing so it is all slightly awkwardly glommed on.

Yeah, this room is getting sanded & polyurethaned, and the hallway is getting new hardwood(the floor was unsalvagable). However despite my bedroom having missing boards and warps & such, I have no plans to do that one for a while due to the logistical disaster of trying to get all the furniture & bookcases out of a room twice the size of the only other bedroom on the floor.

Thanks, that wall has my reproduction tin signs, which i display my diecasts on, thanks to magnets & hot glue.
