It’s not too hard to do. Just drive in until you hear a scraping sound, then give it a bit of welly to get it properly nice and close.

you could even slap on a bit of Delrin or similar plastic to the side of your mirror so you could use it in this way and not destroy it.

Yep, listen for the scraping, then if you hear a crunch, you backhand slap the woman sitting next to you and make her turn 5 extra tricks that day to help pay for the damage.
