I am disappoint. This 2015 Corvette Z06 was clearly down on power at MT’s 2015 “Best Drivers Car” competition.
In before heat soak theorists? Or, maybe GM didn’t change the oil after 500 miles? The 640hp CTS-V ran well, but I am sure that has a different cooling package and Cadillac specific ECU tuning.

Could definitely hear it cutting power mid corner. I’d also say that California gas sucks too.

Car and Driver had no issues with their Lightning Lap test. Makes me wonder what the heck is going on

Only 91 Octane, possibly other reasons.

I honestly expected this from the auto but not the manual.

Well, considering that the Z06 blew past a Lambo, Porsche & McLaren at Virginia Int. Raceway during Car & Drivers Lightening Lap this past issue, I’d think there was some sort of problem with the car.

One of the last times MT tested the ‘15 Z06, Motortrend received a car from GM with an out of spec alignment. It was too tail happy and just not controllable for Pobst. After the test, GM corrected the alignment and sure enough the car was more controllable. MT had Pobst re-run the car and ultimately got a better lap time.

I’m beginning to think Motor Trend just has bad luck with the Corvette.

CARB makes them add massive amounts of ethanol to be “more green”.

It got nerfed, plain and simple.

It is the Nerf yellow. I knew it. No car should come in nerf yellow. Nerfed it all up.

I remember that. Just for fun I almost wonder if MT is purposely getting ‘bad’ z06s so they can do an update later and get more attention

This is true. Our additive packages don’t help. I’ve heard stories of guys going to out of state tuners and having to take jugs of CA fuel, because if they tuned on locally available stuff and drove home, they’d detonate like crazy.

Not just Motor Trend, Car and Driver has had two Stingrays blow up as well.
