... I’m at a loss for words. While the Model X’s doors are being abused, Mazda, real low-key like they generally are, announce an upcoming ‘sports car concept’ for the Tokyo Motor Show. One with some very traditional, long hooded, low slung, seats near the diff, back-to-basics looks.
I don’t care if it’ll be an R-,M-,G-,D-,T- X7. I just hope it isn’t another tease.

At a loss for words? I’ll be at a loss for words if they produce it. Because they almost certainly won’t.
If they do: my god. The words I will lose

Please let there be Wenkel.

Oh lordy, that’s pretty with a hint of muscle car fastbacks sprinkles. Come to think of it, Mazda IS missing that 4-seat GT coupe product line.
Finger much crossed.

They’re on schedule. 2017 was the expected due date on a new sports slot. I see a lot of growth with Mazda right now, and they’re in a good place with partners, so I could see this being very possible; whether its on its own platform or a borrowed one will be the question. I can’t see Mazda borrowing an engine again, though. Seems like theyll sell people rights to their designs, but not the opposite.

I can live without the rotary, just please be equipped with a manual. But since it’s Mazda I’m not too worried.

if it’s a rotary, i’ll pass, and won’t go near the thing. I’ve had one too many bad experiences in/with RX8’s to trust a mazda Rotary, or a rotary owner :P
If it is a normal engine, i'll gladly buy one

I agree completely.
It’s just that it’s not really the time for sports cars, nobody is making them and
nobody
is making two at a time. Not in Japan anyway, except Nissan. It’s possible though, I’m hopeful.
