I’m sure it’s safe as I don’t know that the Volvo would move under its own power with 500 gallons of fuel. Nevermind you would probably have to put the tank on the roof.

There’s no craigslist where I am. There’s this though. Volvo 480 skin. Actually, it’s a complete €400 Volvo 480 (€400 = $449 = <$500). Engine doesn’t start, so it’s an ideal candidate to swap your engine into. That the 480 is FWD shouldn’t be too much of a problem, should it? Just swap in the entire RWD drivetrain into that much lighter 480 and you’ve got yourself an even better Volvo race car! ( ad in Dutch)
