Thoughts?

I would probably just put money in the 2013, unless you are uber 1337 rally driver who needs all the latest and greatest bells and whistles. Personally, I prefer the looks of all previous WRXs to the new gen.

Sure, if you’ve got the money. Why not?

Financially: no
For that blue: yes

If you have the money and like the newer one more, why not?

Nah, go for a ‘15 WRX instead or upgrade yours.

Why not WRX for WRX? The STi doesn’t have enough to make it “special” anymore, certainly not for the price premium.

Wrong. That color isn’t available on the standard WRX. That alone makes it worth the buy.

Sell me the WRX at a ridiculously good price, buy the STi. Win-Win.

 I prefer the orange.

Find out how much of a hit you’ll take on insurance premiums first.

Definitely try the normal WRX first. The FA-20 may lack the rumble, but it feels (and is) way more torquey in everyday driving.
And since you’re into rare/unique colors, you should get the now-discontinued Galaxy Blue Silica.

Well I meant over a new standard WRX. I would definitely keep that WRX over a new one.

Can you opt for the lip spoiler on the 15’?

nope

I prefer the orange generation more than the current one on looks but I haven't driven either so I couldn't say which one is better to drive

Your 2013 Special Edition is 1 of 200 made. If you are thinking long-term, that might be worth more than the 1 of a bazillion 2015 STi.
What would you gain? Of course, there are the go-slightly-faster goodies, but you also gain a lot of harshness with it. I own a 2104 WRX and have driven the 2015 STi. For a daily driver, the STi just wasn’t worth the bumps and bangs.

This makes me happier than the new style...color or not.
And the orange is sick.
