This is a non-US spec series 2 E-Type. The most middle of the E-Types. It had a 4.2 E-Type engine, a four speed E-Type transmission, and with the XK 6 cylinder E-Type engine. This E-Type was one of the E-Types made between 1969 and 1971. This E-Type is likely a ‘69 or ‘70 E-Type.

69-71 ones were average. Its about carbs. You want an SU carbed XKE. 69 and later had Zeniths. In general for most if not all cars of the era if you are talking US spec, 1967 is the year you want. If you see and XKE with smooth valve covers and SUs, its a good one. More specifically, the series 1.5 XKE models are what’s up. Small mouth, 4.2l engine, full synchro gearbox. 1965-1967.

I have driven 2 of these machines - one RHD and one LHD. The LHD one was red, black interior, and used a bit of oil. This was the first car I drove (in my 20s) that made me not care that the radio was crap. One of the best drives I ever had was top down, fall evening, dash lights failed so I couldn’t tell how fast I was going. Twisty road, lots of 3rd gear sweepers. Heaven.

I haven’t driven a sports car in a long time, so it’s not fair for me to say the E-Type is the most, or the only, E-Type. But I suspect it is.
