Comic made by me in about 30 seconds. Seriously though, are they not paying attention to resale values of Powerstroke Excursions? Or the Duraburb guys that charge $100k or more for a conversion?

How does resale value make GM money?

Resale value means nothing to a company if they can’t sell enough of a product in the first place.

I guess OP is saying that it shows that the market wants a diesel SUV.

Exactly. There are people (like myself) that
hate
pickup trucks, but need a tow vehicle.

They never made the product in the first place. This is the equivalent of a food stand that sell bread and meat separately, but never thought to sell sandwiches.

GM was SOOOOOO close to the prefect half ton diesel, or at least in my opinion. we’ll see how the cummins one works out for nissan

They are, I just have a hard time trusting any Diesel Ford has made since the 7.3L.

Oh I know, I dream about that motor every day. Imagine that guy hooked to the 8-Speed transmission, fuel economy would be astounding for a full size SUV/Truck.

My father in law has had great experience with his 6.0s in an 02 Excursion he bought new in 2003, and one in an 03 F-350 that he picked up a few years ago. now with 180,00 miles on the Excursion, and about 100,000 on the F-350(he bought it with just 70,000 on the clock). The worst thing he’s had happen is the starter motor has broken itself loose a few times on the Excursion. That has happened three times in the 12 years he’s owned the truck. Other than that they’ve only needed general maintenance.

I was working for On*Star at the time and had access to bits and pieces of the GM intelligence database. That engine was close to production- as in testing prototypes but not quite running in test mules close.
They were also developing a 4.0-5.0 liter V8 family for the Lambda platform. It was also to replace the aging Northstar family and go into Buick sedans. Twin-cam, direct injected, with the possibility of forced induction...
But alas. A convergence of poor economic environment and bad management left both in the development stage.

too bad about this diesel black eye issue, If the dmax colorado had done well they may have revived it.

And if they’d done it, I’d have picked up a cheap manual Colorado and swapped this engine in.
