I suppose it’s fair to assume that these guys never learned to count past four.

Also, the guy behind the banjo dude looks just like Kevin from the Wonder Years.

Why would they not know how to count past 4?

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was a trilogy of five books and counting when Douglas Adams died. Sometimes you just name things prematurely.

I dunno. They’re all wearing overalls in front of a run-down shack. With a banjo. Not exactly the poster children of education.

Quaret is an organized group of 4 singers or instrument players.

From the looks of them, they seem to be from a part of the country that believes education is the work of Satan...

“We’re doing a group photo Guthrie, take off the damned jacket”

“But it’s cold”

“Fine, but you’re handling manure for a week”

*Why does everyone hate my jacket? What has it ever done to hurt them? I like my jacket; it’s comfortable and warm and doesn’t run off in the night with the gypsies like my wife and kids*

I feel bad for Guthrie.

Maybe only four of them sing and only four of them play. What’s a quartet in extra dimensions, a cubetet?

Maybe the others are like the sound engineers.

Oh...

I’ll make sure to never wear overalls?

It really depends on how you accessorize.

They send a variety of messages just depending on what you wear with them.

I think I figured it out.

The quartet is just the 4 that sings (3 on the back row plus guy on right). Banjo guy just plays banjo. Jacket dude is the manager/composer. And the young guy is their sex toy while on tour. Well, he is until he gets a little older and they no longer find him attractive and they find another young runaway.

I thought Douglas Adams did that on purpose.

Well, those guys seem happy. Learning to play an instrument is difficult on its own and creating music more so. I’m positive it’s not my style of music but they seem to dig it.

Lol now that I think of it, I own something resembling overalls but they are shorts at the bottom.

It looks like a record I’d find in my grandparents stuff (if they still had records). Definitely not my type of music. I’m pretty critical of mainstream music because it’s just made for mass appeal and generally the voice behind it isn’t nearly as good in person as it is on the radio. I wouldn’t give these guys a hard time because they’re clearly in it because it’s what they enjoy. But I would ask how 7 people equals a quartet.

Well, yes and no. He started off by novelizing the radio show, which came out to about three books with some things added, and then finished them up... but then he kept writing. Publishers/etc. were already promoting H2G2, RatEotU, and LtUaE as a trilogy by the time that SLaTfAtF came out, so he said OK FINE and said it was now a four-book trilogy. Then he wrote MH, which made it a five book trilogy. I suspect the Men In Overalls here experienced something like that - getting booked as a quartet, and then friends and family squeezing in after the door was supposed to be closed. Not as funny, but not that dissimilar.

Hmmm, that would only be 6 though. Maybe a octahetet?
