I hate that some provinces/states are blessed with no requirement for front plates. In Ottawa, it's especially strange because Ontario requires front plates but you cross the bridge into Quebec (there are many bridges between Ontario/Quebec in Ottawa) suddenly having no front plates is just fine. I wish there was consistency in this regard - consistency by not requiring front plates, ever.

Well unfortunately it’s required in our great state. So the alternative is to have it permanently drilled into the center of our front bumper. At least with the tow hook bracket, I can pop it off and have the option to go plate-less.

Front plates are required in my state as well. Mine is in my trunk.
When I got my 135is, the dealer asked if I wanted a front plate bracket. They gave me the option to leave the plate bracket off, but if I ever got a ticket, I could bring the car back to them and they’d put the bracket on for free.
2+ years later and no tickets for lack of front plate. Hell, I even got a speeding ticket and the cop didn’t write me one for lack of front plate.

You’re a braver man than I. I was going to do the same but the cops around here look for any excuse to ticket. The meter maids will also leave tickets for no front plate if you park in Boston. Worst of all, it’s not a regular fix it ticket. You end up with points on your license if they don't let you off. So for now, the plate stays. Even though I agree it isn't pretty.
