As much as I love my 4Runner, unless you plan on keeping it forever or offroading it, there isn’t much of an advantage over your GMC besides looks. The 3VZE is good at nothing.

Listing the V6 engine as if it’s a plus on a 4Runner that old is like listing having Herpes as a plus. Yeah, it’s probably the best STD to get, but it’s still an STD.

What people ask for these is absurd. Ones in decent shape with the V6 for $7k? Hell no. Find me a clean SR5 with the 22RE (which would still only be worth paying $5k or so to me).

I know it has a bad reputation, I’m just going by the word of people I know who’ve had both engines. I have a friend with a 22RE one that’s on its third HG, and my other friend had a V6 one that’s never had problems. They could be exceptions to the rule though

Yeah whenever I think of replacing my Blazer, I realize nothing will have something better than my 4.3....maybe the Jeep straight 6, but I have more torque and almost as much reliability

I hate the 22RE bandwagon. It is worse than the 3VZE in every way except cheapness and easiness to fix.

Unless the speed limit is 90, I have no problem doing 75-80 as long as it’s not going up a huge incline. I’d much rather have the V6 than the 22RE. It’s a way overrated engine. Cheap to fix =/= good.

Highway speeds are a lot lower in BC than the states. The highest is one section in the interior that's 120km/h, everything else is 90-110km/h. And it's not like I'm buying a 4Runner anyway, I won't be making any vehicle purchases over ~$1000 any time soon
