This code brown was entirely my fault. I was changing lanes, and spent just a little too much time shoulder checking. It was very nearly the end of the Audi.

The 2015 C300 loaner I had last month beeped at me in a situation just like this, I was trying to change lanes and shoulder checking and had not realized the car in front stopped. The beep caught my attention and I did the same maneuver you did but with way more space.
Collision prevention tech is some seriously handy stuff.

Agreed.

Damm that was close... Never had to do evasive manoeuvres like that yet, so well done! Not sure I’d manage it that good.

From the dive, looks like the CRV in front of you was surprised of the stopping as well. Good moves sir!

I’m currently uploading a similar near-miss, actually. Yesterday must have been National Make-An-Opponaut-Crap-Himself Day.

That sure is one busy left lane...

I remember my driving instructor saying: “nothing beats a look.”
So true.

I’d recommend setting up your mirrors to eliminate your blindspot. This was a trick I learned during a BMW advanced driver training course I took and it was suggested by the instructors who were professional drivers so I’d take their word over any Internet commenter who firmly believes that you cannot eliminate your blindspots.

I actually have blind spot mirrors on my car. When I say I was shoulder checking, I mean I spent too much time staring at my blind spot mirror.

Gotcha. Either way, good that you are unscathed!

I’m quite glad. Would not have been a fun get-together.
