Should we include the MiniDisc, DAT, 45 RPM record and 7.5 IPS reel-to-reel? And where is the 8” floppy?

I had one of these.
Edit: Screw you Kinja

Where is the massive Laser Disc?

I saw an eight inch floppy, one time. It was terrifying.

I don’t know what’s sadder: the faces on those little cartoon media, or the fact that I have equipment to use most of them (and some of the stuff coming up in the comments).
Edit: I don’t have an 8” floppy drive.

the first one I’ve never seen but the others I’ve seen before.

If memory serves it didn’t work very long. Kept going out of balance on the disk. I think I still have a copy of Terminator 2 in the house somewhere.

As a follow up, here is one of the stacks of old A/V gear I have cluttering up my house, taken just a moment ago:
I’d like to put some of this back to use but I don’t have the space on my desk or A/V equipment rack

I’ve still got 3, and about 800 discs.

I’ve been tempted to pick one up again for nostalgic purposes but I just don’t need another piece of electronic equipment going unused.

We use ours all the time to watch kids movies. its fun to think my daughter will be the only person she knows that has seen a movie stop to change sides.

That’s pretty bad ass. I can’t wait to teach my son to use a record player.

I’m sorry you don’t have an 8” floppy.

So I remember working with all these formats plus:
Minidisc
DAT

It may be 8”, but it’s not floppy...

Used floppys a few times when I was 3. I though there was a monster trying to come out the PC when the floppy was in use :P

I actually still use some of these occasionally...although it’s usually 5.25” floppys rather than 8” floppys.
Why has nobody brought up zip disks yet? I still use those a fair amout.

Dont forget the iOmega Zipdrives!

If you have any old anime ones you’re not doing anything with....
Nah, I’m kidding, I’ve been trying to find Gunsmith Cats on Laserdisc though.

C’mon - that was just a glorified floppy. But yeah, it belongs.
If you want to go for something outdated and forgotten, look for a Syquest EZ-Drive (oooh - 135MB on each disc...)

The guy that my dad bought all these laser disc from for pennies on the dollar had a lot of questionable content that was thrown away before family consumption time. Including a few strait pornos

I’ve got a Jurassic Park LD that an ex-girlfriend gave me at one point. I had the chance to buy about 40 plus a decent player for $60, but I didn’t have the cash at the time.
