Watched Fifth Gear today...

Took a sick day from work today and watched Fifth Gear on Hulu. Pretty good show...I think I like it a bit more that Top Gear UK.

Anyone else seen a couple episodes?

I didn’t realize Hulu had it, going to add to my list. I’ve never seen it, but TG was starting to wear on me with their constant schtick.

It’s not a bad show by any stretch...and it’s orders of magnitude better than any car show on US tv. I enjoy the show too, but there’s something about Tiff that just irks me. It’ll hold me over until ‘Gear Knobs’ comes out :)

People need to remember that the 2002 Top Gear is basically similar to Old Top Gear in name and two presenters only. Fifth Gear was basically created to pick up where 1977 Top Gear left off, and I think they do that exceptionally well.

Top Gear isn’t for useful facts. It’s for being entertaining. I prefer it that way. I can glean data from a magazine.

Fifth Gear bored me to death. It will never be as fun as Clarkson Hammond and May shouting at each other.

You’re entitled to that opinion, Fifth Gear is more like Top Gear’s more serious brother which actually is trying to be factual instead of a show that is more comedy that just so happens to have some facts tossed in. The problem I have with Fifth Gear is that I could never really get into it as it just seemed so dull. If I want to learn about how something works fundamentally I’ll read some papers and patents on it.

5th gear have never set out to be fun in an entertainment way they are going for the factual/documentary element with some mild entertainment in it, continuing how the original top gear used to be before it became an entertainment show (which there is nothing wrong with) it’s nice to get both sides to a car show

Fifth gear was entertaining to me. On The first episode I saw, they were drifting double decker buses.

Love Fifth Gear because 1) they still do their cheap car stuff 2) they now invite interesting guests to present all the time such as Karun Chandhok, Bruno Senna, Sabine Schmidt etc, 3) Vicki can be awfully cheeky and 4) Tiff Needell is fucking insane.
