Surely it’s a bit over 40 times the limit. Retain fines, but tell them it’s going directly into a fund to pay for VW’s diesels to be in compliance. That’d stop em

And that is what’s wrong with emissions in America. Most states it’s legal when it leaves the dealer, after that, do whatever the hell you want to it.

] In May 2015, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed a bill into law which prohibits retrofitting diesel-powered vehicles to increase particulate emissions for the purpose of coal rolling. Those found in violation are subject to a fine by the state’s Department of Environmental Protection. The bill was introduced by state Assemblyman Tim Eustace after a pickup truck blasted smoke at Eustace’s Nissan Leaf while driving. [9]

Yes to that extent, but there’s still tweeks you can do to your vehicle that make it outside the emissions box, just not to that extreme. For example, my motorcycle came with an EGR on it, or “smog pump” it was called. Theres several companies that make kits for you to remove them from the engine and plug off the holes

hmm. maybe VW tells EPA not their juristiction, make states decide what emissions are okay for the cars. lots of fleet vehicle discounts, everybody’s happy except for that unhinged German engineer who’s going around buying coalers and sending them to the junkyard for recycling. Well he’s happy in his own way .

The name of the Leaf-driving New Jersey politician who thinks one more ban will make life complete is “Eustace”? You can’t make this stuff up.

Yeah, I’m not talking useful tweaks, I run a euro chip in my VW for +10mpg and some throttle and fuel pump tweaks. (it actually turns the pump off on decel) Probably runs a few extra atoms out the tailpipe as a result but better mpg? eh.

Coal rolling has yet to establish what motorsport it is other than middle finger to government, and a personal tax on the owner in x years when something or another doesn’t work anymore. imho.

That’s what drives me crazy. You say to people to relax emission laws so you can get an MPG boost and they think about rolling coal. I’m talking about Euro 5b emission laws so we can get those very high MPG cars that only exist in europe
