Ok, so we know about the bit of cognitive dissonance that is the Aston Martin Cygnet. And we understand (or at least know of) the reason behind it, that being fleet-average fuel consumption, in which AM does pretty poorly.
Here’s proof that Mercedes-Benz was well ahead of the curve. We can only surmise that this was long before even the concept of the A-Class and B-Class was put down on paper.
