Why... why wouldn’t they want you backing your vehicle in?

Not sure, stole the pic from a friend who lives out in Colorado (I believe)

Either way, still funny that they did that right in front of the sign.

Maybe they had people backing into the building???

When I see those signs, it’s usually in a parking garage or similar situation where it might be necessary for the license plate to be visible.

But it’s very rare for me to personally encounter these signs. So, I back in whenever I get the chance (unless I have access to a pull-through spot).

It could be a situation where the area has a parking pass or something that must be displayed on the rear window, backing in would prevent said sticker from being visible. In that case, I imagine unauthorized vehicles might back in to try to hide the fact that they’re not permitted to park there.

It’s way easier to back in to a spot than to back out. That’s a silly rule.

Looks like a hotel or lodge. Probably attracts many visitors from all states, some of which don’t have front plates, like the Nissan Trojan...er, Titan. The hotel probably has to verify nobody is poaching guest spots every night and it would be a PITA to make the staff weave in and out behind all the vehicles to perform this courtesy.

/yeah, I sleuthed my ass off on that one

They probably need plates to show but I don’t blame the guy. DD’ing pickups/full size SUV’s my whole life I back in 98/100 times. It’s a lot harder to back out than to back in, also if it’s a 2WD truck, it’s hard to tow if you back in ;)

Ok that makes sense. Though one in the front and one in the back (giggity) would be sufficient right?

Come to think of it my parking placard fell off a while ago. But at least I have a designated spot.

Backing your vehicle in is inconsiderate of the occupants of the building. The exhaust fumes would be directed towards the windows and, if those are open, pollute the interior air, since most cars have the exhaust pointing out the back.

We have these signs in Germany as well, and all our cars have front and back plates. They are worried about soot from the exhaust on their precious walls.

We have these signs as well, I don’t think it’s about plates as all cars ahve front and back plates over here. They are worried about soot on the wall.
