I’ve been asked to bring one back later on this year :)
Probably a BT as they are cheaper...

Your life must be awesome! Need me to look for one over here?

lol appart from the cool cars I get to drive once in a while, it’s rather boring believe me :)
Nah, I’m good, they are fairly easy to find.
If you can find a Simca Rally 1 or 2 (with the round lights) for 15000€ or less though, I might end up being eternally thankful :)
I don’t mind a little cosmetic work as long it drives and that it’s not a full blown racecar.

A normal Simca 1000 in good condition is getting worse to get every week so I’m not sure if I can help you with that. But I’ll see what I can come up with!

Normal Simca 1000s are fairly easy to find in decent/good condition... But Simca 1000 Rally are getting real expensive... The cheapest I found was at 17900€ in Austria. And if I were to take this one, it would take me like 4 full days just to go there and bring it back.
I found another one at 19000€, and in France...
http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/83331…
Price is negociable, but I,d still ike to find one around 15000 maybe 16000€, mechanically fine but with a bit of work to be done. That would be the ideal candidate for me...

this is probably not at all what youre looking for, but whatever bits can help:

In France a 1000 can be found alright. If it’s an original Rallye you probably end up in the 20k-category. A true project is already asked 10k for. For that kind of money I’d probably take a 1000 or 1200S coupé anyway. Better make that a 1000 coupé, that 1200S is impossible as well I suppose.
You don’t want to restomod a Rallye out of an original 1000?
![]() 09/18/2015 at 07:31 |
|
Nah it has to be an original one... Worst case scenario, I’ll go for the one in France at 19000€, but I wanted to find something a bit cheaper... Oh well, I’ll see what happens in the next month or so.

haha, Jobjoris just posted it also. No it has to drive and be ready to take the road, it’s the only thing that is important. It can be cosmetically a bit rough, with some rust, but it has to drive.

I’ll probably be in Austria in a month or two if that Austrian one is still available... Good luck with this one, I’ll keep my eyes open.

Thanks man :)

That Panhard has unusually modern looking tail lights for a car built 50 odd years ago.
![]() 09/18/2015 at 07:59 |

Oh putain!!! I never knew these littles turds were so expensive. I still know someone whose actually racing a Rallye 2 I think, and I can ask my father if he knows anyone who might be selling one for cheap.
But like 32k on LBC, this is craaazy!!
My father would love to get a Samba Rallye (it’s his dream car) but it’s impossible to find a decently priced one... He used to have one (he had the modified PTS engine on it as well as Weber carburators from what I understand), but then I came along :)

If you want to freak out, check out Peugeot 104 ZS2...
My mother actually owned one, which she rolled over lol. She also killed 1 engine and something like 5 head gaskets. Insanely rare and impossible to find, there was one for sale in perfect shape at over 30000€ a few months ago.

O_O That is crazy. I can’t remember which one my mother had. I can’t remember if it was a regular ZS or a ZS2. I just now that back then, on the road between were my parents lived in the 80’s and were her mother lived, she was quicker than my father in his Samba.... Fun times!
![]() 09/18/2015 at 08:17 |

Not just that tail lights, the complete design must have been a total shock back then. Love it.
![]() 09/18/2015 at 08:24 |

The ZS2 is basically an homolagation car... Only 1000 were made, it was the fastest 104 produced of course :)
The ZS is much more of a normal car

Yeah, that’s what I just read...
God I miss the Peugeot Talbot Sport spirit!

So, what is that thing? It’s beautiful! And, I don’t mean the woman, although she is too.

It’s a Panhard CT24 . Two cylinder boxer engine!

That’s cool. It’s so tiny!

Très belle. I knew someone on the east coast who had one. One of the only ones in the States. I loved seeing that car. He didn’t drive it much because it was fragile as anything, but it was a great ride.

It’s probably like owning a Dino: every single time you take it something breaks down or either falls of. But this sure was a beauty. Too bad Citroën didn’t actually do anything with the brand anymore. Except building military vehicles.
![]() 09/20/2015 at 00:19 |
|
Yeah, exactly. And it’s impossible to find replacements for those parts that fall off. It’s great to look at, though. I’d just put it in my living room.
It is a real shame that Panhard is gone for all intents and purposes. It’s actually similar to AMC which sort of still exists as AM General who make the military Hummer. Which actually is finished now, so maybe AMC is finally done, too.

I’m not sure if Panhard used a lot of suppliers sharing stuff with other French companies. The steeringbox for a Dino (approx. 5k built) is shared with... NO OTHER CAR! WHY ON EARTH DIDN’T THEY JUST GET ONE FROM A BIG FIAT?
Always loved those wheels with those drums visible.
![]() 09/22/2015 at 02:38 |
|
Which car had the Dino steering box? That is wacky. I guess fit better than one from Ferrari.
Whose wheels? The Hummer’s?
![]() 09/22/2015 at 06:18 |
|
It was a French parts-supplier that made the steering-box. And it was JUST used in the Dino, no other car. Mine was totally shot when I got the Dino. When I found out it was French I took it to an expert on Traction Avants: he overhauled the box for me.
Those Panhard-wheels!
![]() 09/22/2015 at 16:40 |
|
Oh, I think I’ve heard that before. Did they put French parts in other Fiats?
Those Panhard wheels are amazing, yeah. I guess there was no other choice but to leave the drum exposed like that. It’s a pretty sweet effect especially when it’s all shiny like this one. I guess those are split rims, too.
![]() 09/22/2015 at 17:41 |

I may have shared this before. I think this was something new for the Italians as well.
Used in racing as well those drum-wheels (the upper one, a D.B.):
![]() 09/22/2015 at 18:29 |
|
Where’s that photo from? That’s the D.B. Le Mans isn’t it? I think Deutsch Bonnet used wheels like that on a few cars. I guess big drums were necessary on those cars.
![]() 09/23/2015 at 03:51 |
|
That’s from my trip to the Le Mans musee des 24 heures. The one on top is the D.B. Panhard HBR4 Barquette if I’m not mistaken. The DB Le Mans was a road car. That section of the Musee would really make you insane with all those DBs, Bonnets and Matras!
![]() 09/24/2015 at 00:44 |
|
You’re right. The Le Mans was a road car. That car ran Le Mans. That museum would make my head spin and is something I should see some day. The 48 is the Aero Djet?
![]() 09/24/2015 at 01:53 |
|
Yes it is! That’s probably one of my favorites in the Musee. Next to that Ferrari 166 MM Touring Barchetta.
Didn’t I show some of these before? One of my best trips ever. Totally great museum.
![]() 09/24/2015 at 03:53 |

No, I don’t think you’ve shown me any pictures from that place before. It’s even more epic than I imagined. That CD Peugeot is so awesome. It even has the big tails. I also like the 4cv, obviously. Too bad they don’t have the Wimille Tank, but at least I’ll get to see it in Philadelphia.
![]() 09/24/2015 at 04:27 |
|
Well, in that case I’ll just dump these in our shared dropbox folder (check!). For you to enjoy. If I’m ever near it again I’ll drop by again. Drove a part of the circuit (the part that is public roads of course) as well!

Thanks! Those pictures are great. Oh my god, that Dino. Wow. We’re putting this on my itinerary for the European tour. I’m glad Josje enjoys going to car museums because we’re going to need her to keep us company as it’ll be an epic trip. Is the museum right on the circuit? It’s fairly new, isn’t it?
