Anyone else considering one?

The specs are rather outdated

Yeah but I don't need a tablet. This is more of a play thing. If it sucks it's only $50. If I wanted a real tablet I'd lean towards iPad or Surface Pro.

I think I can get $50 of fun/use out of it. My gf encouraged me to get one since I had been thinking about a tablet. I wanted a bigger screen for browsing/reading than my phone but don't want to break out my laptop for that when I'm on the couch or in bed.

I have had a HDX for a long time now 3 years? I think its great! I did a work around to get firefox on it. Long battery life great screen and graphics as well as speedy with the wifi. The only complaint I have is it can’t do flash which is a bummer sometimes.

I’m not sure I’d even use it to be honest, I’m just easily swayed by cheap shiny gadgets. My phone is huge so it’s basically a tablet anyways.

$50? Sounds like a perfect Christmas prezzie for the littlest golem.

No! NO MORE! I already have a billion tablets! I do not need!

that sounds like a hell of a deal! Sure it is a low spec tablet, but at least it is Amazon so it is going be better than those random Chinese no-name tablets you see at grocery stores from time to time. I got my 16gb Nexus 7 for $100 a year ago though so I am set for a while on the budget tablet department!

I have a previous gen HD. I don’t know what the new ones are like but the OS on mine is a highly modified version of Android. Amazon doesn’t give you access to the whole Play Store, only what they cherry-pick from it to be seen on their app store. You have sideload apps like Chrome and Gmail. Other than that, it’s awesome.

I gave it strong consideration, but decided that I already have a low-spec 7” tablet, and if I’m going to spend money on tablet I’d like something bigger. $50 is pretty cheap though...

They have a $100 kids version. Free replacement for 2 years, access to kids stuff and parental controls. Rubber case too

I see that. Seems like a winner.

You can get a brand-name 7” Android tablet with perfectly decent specs for more like $100, and there are tons of options in the $100-200 range with actually-good specs. If it were me I’d at least spend the extra 50 bones for something like an Asus Memopad 7 .

Yeah. But for me it's more of a $50 experiment. I don't need a tablet So it's just for fun

Only $50......

Yeah. I don't have a tablet and I don't need one so $50 is pretty reasonable for a play thing

I originally bought my tablet on a whim since I didn’t think I would really need it. I no longer use my laptop or my phone at home. It has replaced both so well that I find it to be the most important device I own. Works really great for watching movies on airplanes too. No wonder these things tend to sell so well!

Yeah. I don't have high expectations for something $50 but it looks like it'll fill a niche in my life.
