I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life and dropped $1700 on a very broken Volvo V70R. I can’t believe that it’s been a year already and I also can’t believe how little my situation changed... At least I no longer have it; even though do kind of miss the idea of it. I made a similar clone in Forza 6.

Sup, fellow basket case turbo wagon purchaser.

How much hidden accident damage did it have, and how much did you spend on top of the purchase price in order to find out?

I always wondered, how long did it stay in drivable condition?

That picture really makes me miss my 94 850 wagon (5 speed!)

One thing about living where I live - if the rental car I’m using breaks down (and the Volt didn’t ), I call the company and they meet me with another one.

Try to think of it as a learning experience. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, that kind of thing. For all that’s worth, it must have been pretty hilarious making that copy in Forza, in all its white-bumper-ed glory.

By the way, a while back you asked me for a picture of my 850. I now finally have a decent quality one to share. Taken from a friend’s balcony with his non-potato camera:

So...let me guess. Electrical issues?

Shame this car used is a money pit - on paper, obviously, it’s Oppotastic.

Honestly other than temperamental door locks, everything electronic (minus the rear wiper) worked

I just lost AWD and my gearbox was toast.

Honestly it never really wasnt driveable. It wasn’t good to drive because the gear box would mis shift but the ac was great and it only stranded me once due to a loose hose.

Well heres a link to the autocheck I ran

http://oppositelock.kinja.com/well-i-was-abl…

Lets see...over $500 just to get it on the road, $100 in an alignment (didnt last long because brakes made it pull right) $500 in tires. Over $200 in parts at the junkyard. Hours of my time. Loss of family trust....

You got out of this one cheaper than I did on my own learning experience, congratulations.

I wish I could say that one day the PTSD goes away.

I guess you could say I was lucky I didnt have much money so I couldn’t really dump it into it.

I was looking at about $1900 to rebuild the transmission, another $500 or so to fix the bumper, another $200 for the rear wiper, oh and over a grand if I wanted to fix the awd.

I just gave up though.
