So I was just playing Forza 6, and I had a race on Road Atlanta... there are tire walls all over the place where none exist in real life. Plus a piece of the motorcycle course has been completely removed and replaced by an imaginary entrance to the support paddock, with the real-life entrance having been squared off for some reason so that it’s not a smooth merge like the real thing. Not to mention the support roads are missing and the tire walls are all white, rather than alternating white and green. And the spectator area at turn 5 has been filled with trees, which really changes the whole look of the area coming down the esses. Oh, and the entire track is coated with Georgia red clay dust, which in reality doesn’t ever appear on the track in such massive amounts. Or at least it hasn’t since the ‘70s.
I don’t get it. The track was very well-done in Forza 4. Did they just decide that it was too realistic and they should make ugly changes to everything?
If you want to see for yourself, go look at turn 12 in the game and compare it to pictures of the real deal. That area is just completely redesigned, and not one of these changes has a purpose. (I guess the tire walls are to prevent shortcutting with the sticky grass being removed, but they’re so ugly and distracting...)

you’d think they’d just make the grass obscenely slippery to stop shortcutting, like it is.

They do that in real life, though! The actual, proper racing line puts two wheels in the grass there.
