and now they have a pre-ugly-bumper MGB, a 1989 928 S4, and as of this weekend, another 928, this one a ‘79 S2 (I think). Not to mention that they already had a Series-I E-type roadster and a first-gen Firebird, both mid-restoration. The friend DDs a POS (cosmetically, not bad mechanically) ‘99 Z3 (another cl find) but he’s looking at selling it and getting yet another 928 from the same guy that they just got the ‘79 from. And I’m driving a ‘95 4Runner. Call me jobless jealous, but I wouldn’t mind having that decision to make right now.

Funny enough, I almost put my ‘95 4Runner up for sale after finding a meticulously maintained 928 on CL for not much more. I don’t regret not selling it. It’s cheap as shit to maintain and insure, well past cheap enough to make up for the gas mileage.

Mine was a cl find. However, we’re either the fifth or sixth owners and we had to replace the 3-VZE with a new one at 212k. And three years after buying it, it still smells vaguely of cigarettes from the previous owner. And we just had to have the O2 sensor replaced and a new cat put in.

I’ve had to replace the head gaskets, and the shop that did it apparently didn’t torque the harmonic balancer down, so I had to send it back for that, but other than that and a couple NBD things, it hasn’t let me down again in the 4 years I’ve owned it. I’ve grown quite fond of the damned thing. Plus, blasting through a puddle without any fucks left to give in it has brought me out of some pretty dark places, so I can’t deny that I’ve formed a bond with it. If it doesn’t make you smile, you aren’t abusing it enough.

I’ve had my car for only like 3 months but that this point I’m used to it so I don’t really care.
