Taking photos at car events has really made me start to appreciate all the little things about each and every car there. If you can’t find something that catches your eye, you aren’t looking hard enough.

Yep. Battery terminals. Because who doesn’t need a late 60’s Mustang that can move down the track?

Series Landies have 12V taps on the dash supposedly for a light or something. The two plugs on the upper left. What’s the because racecar rationale for ones on the back?

Typically they are used to start the cars, as a lot of higher level racing cars don’t actually have batteries in them to save weight. Basically easy jump starting every time. Most drag cars will have the battery(really just alternator) kill switch on the rear as well so they can easily get to it on the line if something goes wrong.

I think they do have batteries, but they are only good for a single start that they would rather save for that stall after that lap four spin.

But they are tiny - to (as you said) to save weight.

Depends what kind of racing it is, I know plenty of drag cars that won’t have anything besides an alternator. But any which way, external battery posts are cool.
