The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on parallel parking reminded me to post this. For some reason, people in Louisiana don’t understand parallel parking. The laws are pretty clear:

Sec. 11:418. - Standing or parking close to curb.

(a) No person shall stand or park a vehicle in a roadway other than parallel with the edge of the roadway headed in the direction of lawful traffic movement and with passenger-side wheels of the vehicle within eighteen (18) inches of the curb or edge of the roadway except as otherwise provided in this chapter.

This is what they do all the time:

The entire chapter is an accounting of the parking regulations. I can’t find anything in the chapter that would contradict the section I posted.

My wife’s friends do this all the time. Come home from work and see all the yahoos facing the wrong way on the street and have to tell them to go turn their stupid cars around.

They don't like me.

That wasn’t a truck - that was a clown car. Six people crawled out of that thing after the driver (in yellow) parked the wrong way.

Well, maybe it’s a state-thing. Over here in Euroland the Belgians have that same law regarding parking on the “other” side of the street. But here in the Netherlands we don’t.
