Kinja'd!!!

I went for a second round of full detailing on the 944 tonight.

This time, the purpose was to correct as many blemishes or errors with my first attempt as possible. I’d say it was about 85% successful. There are some blemishes I simply cannot remove completely from my first try it seems with my second hand polishing attempt. Can only do so much without an orbital machine. I may have to hit it with compound in the future, the bad spots, but I’m pleased with the job I’ve done. The one step I added to this was instead of using wax, I’ve used a sealant glaze from Klasse. With the polish, it really makes the red pop out for sure. Gonna apply another layer of sealant tomorrow to see if any of the blemishes were simply missed spots of sealant or something else.

Can’t wait to see it under natural light in the morning, but I’d rate this total 5-hour job over the course of the week a 7.5/10 at best.

Looking good. In the daylight the paint is going to gleam I'm sure.

Well this is only the second time I’ve done a full detail. It’s the third time this year. Once in April, once in August, and now in September. That’s why I’m not polishing again after this attempt and maintaining the paint as best I can and protecting the hell out of it with sealant rather than wax. I'm sure there's plenty more paint to go around though.

I’m very excited to see the work I’ve don in the morning. Question, have you a preference between waxes and sealants? Polishes and compounds as well?

Looks clean, but each treatment will wear your paint down. Clear coat can only take so much before your buffer starts tuning red. Paint isn’t too thick on these.

You’d be surprised how thin the paint is on cars. If you can, you might want to spring for a paint meter and compare the door jam paint thickness to the exterior panel thickness.

Also, you can layer wax on top of the sealant for an extra coat of protection. It works wonderfully.

It’s single stage paint though. There is no clear coat.

I don’t use waxes. Last wax I used was a liquid wax, the only one Gtechniq ever made, C3 Smart Wax. It was a virtually pure wax and great depth of gloss. I’ve always been a sealer with C2v3 being my current go to product though for black and dark coloured cars Migliore Cima Sealant is hard to beat with it being a WOWA (wipe on walk away) product, no smears and high gloss.

I only use one polish and that’s Gtechniq P1, it’s a water based non diminishing pad dependent polish. Want to compound ot heavy cut-use with a wool pad, want to polish-use a firm foam pad and want to finish or refine-use a soft foam pad. Cuts really well by hand as well using a trifoam pad (firm foam on one side-soft on the other), with it being water based it leaves no oily residue behind and as it’s non diminishing you can keep working it till your happy with what you’ve got and don’t need to keep working it till the polish has broken down. It’s an honest polish that what you see is what you get, no gloss enhancers or fillers, just what you see.

I do try other brands and products all the time but certain things I always go back to Gtechniq for.

For wheels I use Bilt Hamber Autowheels, wheel cleaner and fallout remover in one, awesome product.

Tar removal, AutoFinesse ObliTARate, spray on, let it do it’s thing (don’t allow to dry) and wipe off.
