A bittersweet time for my family. I have family in New York that was living there at the time of the world trade center attacks. We feared for their safety as we learned of what happened. But at the same time, on September 11th 2001, 9 hours ahead and an ocean away in Tel Aviv, Israel, My cousin Emanuel was born. He is my Aunt and Uncle’s first grandchild and their son’s first born. He is a freshman in high school now, and is living a very happy life as he enters into his teenage years.

Kinja'd!!!

Emanuel is a reminder that not all was lost that fateful day, and that beauty can indeed rise from the ashes. In memory of all that have perished let us not dwell in sorrow, but rejoice in life.

I was 3 years old when it happend, I just remember it being so quiet (I live in a flight path) and watching movies because my parents didn’t want me to see what happend.

The same for me. I was almost 3. I remember watching it and then my parents trying to distract me for the rest of the day.
