Tonight is the Jenks vs. Union football game. So the richest parents of Tulsa are descending upon TU (where our motto is: We bring homework to football games because our professors assigned extra credit if we attend because the school thinks our school lacks team spirit.) with their expensive cars and entitiled kids. Goin’ car spotting later tonight.

Tulsa’s gonna get rocked like a Hurricane

As someone who lives southside, one fewer game at the UMAC is just fine by me. I’m pretty sure that the attendance for this one high school game is probably greater than the total attendance for TU’s entire home season.
I’m glad I transferred out of TU when I did (‘02). It started expanding rapidly after that. I can’t even find my way around over there any more.

American Football is big in Oklahoma. And it’s so big that the two largest high schools play against each other in my university’s stadium. Tulsa also has a lot of old money oil people. So their kids go to these two schools.

Yeah. I got that.. it was this bit that got me stymied “We bring homework to football games because our professors assigned extra credit if we attend because the school thinks our school lacks team spirit“

TU football games are poorly attended, and for the most part, poorly played.

Still does not explain why you’d get extra points for attending a game though..

I’m not sure. They didn’t do that when I attended. A lot of universities rely on ticket and concession sales for revenue (encourage kids to go to the game and spend money, I suppose). Most of TU’s endowment comes from super-rich oil families and the like, so I don’t really get the motivation there.

The rich kids go to Holland Hall or Cascia...
