How many people here are left-handed? Just wondering.
McLaren for your time.

Only the best of us.

I’m not, but my dominant eye’s the left. Does it count?

Not I, but I have two siblings that are.

No. You will always be one of “those” righties.

I am. STORY TIME:
When I was younger, I always extended my left hand when meeting people to shake their hands. My parents didn’t bother explaining that you always shake with your right hand, so my actions confused and dumbfounded many people I met. You want to make someone feel uncomfortable? Shake with your left hand.

Good thing you never went to the middle east as a kid. OTOH, if you’d enlisted in the Boy Scouts, you’d have fit right in.

I’m actually both.
I can write with both hands but use my right hand just because.
I swing baseball left handed, hockey left handed, golf right handed.
Smoke with my left hand, play darts with my right.
I find RHD cars easier to drive than LHD cars because I prefer shifting with my left hand.

If your eye is a hand, then yes.

That’s actually really cool. The only thing I use my right hand for is a mouse and typing.

I’m a lefty but I bat/golf right-handed. One summer when I was playing little league I was having a particularly rough game at the plate. After a couple strikeouts my mom yells from the stands “He’s left-handed!”.
My coach made me bat left-handed for the rest of the game, which, unsurprisingly, didn’t help.

I got over that. It’s always unnatural feeling.

Left handed people are far superior.

I’m ambi if that counts? Perfectly so.

I think you’ve mentioned that, but I’d forgotten. I didn’t Eagle when I was in, but several of my four (!) brothers did, and the lefty also did O of the A. It’s weird that people mix up the cub scout handshake and the Boy Scout handshake, but people do, all the time - have you noticed that? I think it was back in the Clinton administration that I realized cub scouting had gotten to be a bigger thing than the normal kind, pressed home by Bill himself.

I guess it counts.

It’s so cool that we can say this without being racist. High five, brother! (left hand of course)

Lefty checking in.

It was fun when I was in Scouting, but now too many parents are involved and nobody is allowed to do anything fun, like shoot stuff and blow things up. *sigh*

Wow. Lots.

I am left handed. But they say if you use the other hand it feels like somebody else. Though I am left handed, I bat right, hold a hockey stick right, and kick with my right leg.

I consider myself left handed because I write left handed. I also play guitar left handed.
I do virtually everything else right handed, including play drums, shoot, swing a bat, throw, etc.

Eagle Scout here too. Last time I visited the troop was before I left for boot camp. Lately I was thinking about going back to visit, but I recently ran into an old scout buddy, and when I asked him, all I got was “Don’t.” It’s apparently terrible now, a huge dick waving contest for the parents and the boys aren’t actually doing or learning anything.

I’m a lefty. Is amazing how high a percentage of lefty people have artist abilities. We also have shorter life expectancy

The whole point of our troop was scout-led activities. The parents just showed up to drop kids off and then talk to other parents about volunteering weekends. We scheduled everything, picked speakers and badges to work on, camp weekends and locations, etc. The last year I was in all these parents started getting heavily involved and just ruined the spirit of the troop.

My troop was very similar. We had our Scoutmaster and like 15 assistants. It was pretty much social hour for the adults, the kids mostly ran stuff. Not always well, but we ran it, and the adults stepped in only when necessary.
Similarly, in the last year or so I was there, things changed. The Scoutmaster who had been there when I started, and who was a great leader and mentor, decided to leave. His son had made Eagle a few years before and was no longer involved in the troop. And we had an influx of new boys and their fathers, many of whom thought they could run things better. Rather than fight it, he handed over the reigns and stepped down. But he made it look a lot easier than it was, and things pretty quickly went to hell. And it sounds like they never really recovered.

I learned guitar right handed because no one has left handed guitars

I have very few artistic abilities. I can draw basic shapes pretty well but animals or anything that's not a square I'm hopeless at.

I use the term “play” loosely, I’m not very good at it. And I’m more into bass than guitar.
But anyways, I had tried to learn back when I was in high school on a right handed guitar, but it just felt so unnatural to me. I didn’t have the money then to sink into an expensive left handed guitar - you’re right, they are hard as hell to find and generally more expensive. Then a couple years ago I discovered http://www.rondomusic.com/ and they several quality, entry level left handed models for good prices. I picked up one of their Jazz bass clone starter kits and it’s a lot of fun. I really should make the time to play more.

I’m not, but interesting family anecdote:
When my brother began showing left-hand dominance, my great-grandfather would smack him in the hand with his cane. It worked and now we don’t have any damned lefties in the family.

I don’t understand why.

No one does. I guess it used to be look downed upon to be a lefty? He was pretty sincere about, though. This did take place in the late 70’s and my great-grandfather was in his 90’s.

came for the F1. Stayed for the lefty unification movement.
Lefty throw, write, dominant eye & ear, but - I kick righty, bat righty which I always thought made sense (pulling arm is the strong one - am I right?) and guitar righty...which I always thought made sense. The hand that does the most intricate things is the good one - am I right?).
