Finally got the rejection email from one of the universities I applied for. Good I say, because I get my US$1,290 deposit back which will go towards funding my education in a better university. Hooray!

True fact: The Doc was rejected from 20 of 24 undergraduate institutions and 11 of 12 graduate institutions to which he applied. University is as much about fit as anything else. I’m sure you’ll kick serious butt wherever you land. Good luck!

A deposit of over $1000? For what? I had to drop $50 on an application fee for one college I didn’t even finish the application for because I got accepted to my first choice school right away (the only school I finished the application for).

But don’t use me as a litmus test for how to apply for schools, I’m a cocky, egotistical maniac who’s response to his parents when they learned how many schools he applied to was, “What are they going to say? No?” I got the acceptance letter the day after. Fantastic timing.

But I also did things very differently from most of my fellow students in the same department, and it showed. I play very well with others, just not ones that are all “let me take charge and wing it.” You really shouldn’t act like that when one of your fellow students has worked in the industry since being enrolled in high school (I had some wicked awesome opportunities that I couldn’t pass up).

What is it that you’re going to study for, if I may ask...

Why the crazy fee?

It’s how the university makes money, on top of the administration fees you pay just for submitting your application. If you get in, it goes towards payment for your tuition fees. If you don’t qualify to get in, you get it back. If you get in, but you choose to go to another university, they get to keep it.

Also, I’m studying Human Geography and the Environment. Don’t worry, I’ll still keep V8s and petrol alive in my heart.

One of my all time favorite MP skits. Four Yorkshiremen, Cheese Shop, and Dead Parrot are all you need to turn someone into a MP fan ;)

A lovely part of the country, but all the people around there sound funny. Coincidentally my GTI was originally registered in Yorkshire.
