I almost typed this on the FP. I am glad I thought better of it.

Neutral: Volvo needs to revamp their dealer experience to cater to the absolute most pretentious people imaginable. From what I hear, and judging by some of the people who buy from the Japanese luxury marquee I work for, those customers are an immensely entitled bunch of (presumed) wealthy asshats who think they are better than everyone else and treat other like shit.

Granted, this does not apply to everyone who buys or drives X-brand of car. But, when it comes to luxury-car buyers, damn if they aren’t insufferable quite frequently.

This would not have gone down well with the FP trolls commenters.

Clearly they’re discerning individuals who demand luxury.

Thats why i love having a calculator on my desk. I pass it to them and have them do the math.... tell them it’s math, not magic, and it’s ok, (insert luxury car brand here) is not for everyone.

Volvo.... the Macy’s of the car world. Not cheap for poor people, but not expensive enough to attract rich people.

As a Volvo employee AND a Aston, Mercedes, Lotus employee at the same time, what I think is that Volvo could succeed in the luxury market if they simply push their core values instead of trying to be Mercedes.

Lets take the full size luxury car segment (but really applies to ever segment). Enthusiasts, mostly younger ones, believe that in each segment of cars, there”has to be a best”. I believe there is no best. They are all good BUT!!!!!! just simply offer their own thing. None is better than the other.

BMW 5 Series = Sportiest

Mercedes E-Class = Luxury

Lexus GS = Quality/Tech

Audi A6/S6 = Design

Jaguar XF = Classy as fuck

Cadillac CTS = Aggressive Dynamics

now for the new guy...

Volvo S90 = Safest / Most Efficient
