You are correct and my work days are normal one. Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 4:30. Easy peasy.

It's base dependent. The start of the duty day is either 0700 or 0730. Granted there are ton's of jobs that are 24 hour ops, meaning they have three shifts throughout the day.
