Why are they for race use only? What makes them unsuitable for road use?

Maybe they need a lot of heat to operate properly.

I have no idea... they are fantastic on the track though. I wonder if they are worried that they are too aggressive for a street rider who may never have spent much time practicing emergency stops?

Not totally sure for bikes, but track pads for cars always have a more involved bedding process, because they need a lot more heat before they start working properly... I generally don’t feel like my pads are bedded until after a lap or two on track, just because I can’t get bed them properly on the street.

To be fair, the first time bedding in a particular brand and type of pad I hit the rotors with some scotch brite and give em a lap or two. But if its the same pads as before I’ve never had an issue not following the novel on the back of the package.
