UGHHHHH - UPDATE: More damage found....

UPDATE: Opened my trunk this morning and happened to notice that when the guy backed into my car, it bent the corner of the trunk......

I was at the gym a little while ago, and when I came back out to the parking garage, I saw I guy looking at the back of my car. He said he was backing out of the parking space and felt he bumped my car and wanted to make sure there was no damage. We were both looking at the corner of the bumper and didn’t see anything but he still gave me his name and phone # (I wrote down his license plate anyway after hearing stories of people giving fake phone #s).

I got home and grabbed a towel to dry the bumper because of the rain and saw some light scuff marks which came off pretty easy then I noticed the cracked plastic (see photo tag). I called him up and told him there was damage and he was super nice about it and told me to get an estimate and he would bring me a check. But seriously, I’ve had this car for 3 1/2 months......this is why people can’t have nice things......

Yea. I’m mad but he was extremely nice about it. I don’t know if he would have left a note because when we initially looked we didn’t see anything but we weren’t looking in the right place. I got lucky I got back to my car when I did.

yeah, it seems like they are. There is a guy on the oppo group on facebook who had is Dart hit 3 times in the past 8 months, all by Camrys

Well I happened to walk up as he was still there. I’m not sure he would have left anything because he wasn’t looking in the right spot for the damage.

I’d say a body shop would probably charge less than $500. That also is definitely not enough damage to bother with insurance, as long as the check clears.

Nice to see that people leaving information isn’t an isolated thing. It sucks that it happened but at least it sounds like it will be a fairly easy resolution...

Ugh, this is how it was when my Abarth got hit. Ok, there’s a hole in the bumper cover, I can deal. Two days later I notice paint is flaking on the bottom of the hatch because it was bent in where it shouldn’t have been. I think the damage ended up nearly $3,000.

Yeah, the guy wants to pay out of pocket but I think its going to be a lot mainly because of the bumper. There is a bulge in the plastic where the crack is and I’m thinking (going to push for) it needs to be replaced, but there are parking sensors galore back there. I’m assuming a body shop can bend that corner back out and not really have to do much to it. I just think the bumper is going to cost a good amount.

Well I don’t know if he would have left anything if I didn’t walk up while he was looking over my bumper for damage. But yes, he was very willing to give me his name and number and when I called him to tell him there was damage, he just said to get the estimate.

I know what you mean...a few weeks back, my car was hit in the parking lot. I heard it and got to the lot almost immediately, but I have no idea if he would have left information if I hadn’t been there. Granted, my damage was a bit more noticeable .

I’m no professional body shop guy, but I’ll be surprised if they can easily bend that straight.
