It did not hold.
This is how it looked a few weeks ago. I will have to get under it to see what fell apart. I’m assuming its the front (left) clamp.

Those crush clamps always seem to give me shit. Can you get a band clamp on it?

That’s plan B. Or a beer can and some hose clamps.

I’d say it’s not the clamp though not really.. That “putty” though.. that won’t work at all.
How to fix shit in 3.. or 4.. perhaps 5 easy steps.
Make sure the surface of the old pipes are clean.. dab some “putty” on the small bit and some on the large bit.. stuff the small into the big, use a proper clamp.. hey presto :O

Not sure what your money situation is, but it shouldn’t cost too much to have a shop just weld in a straight section of pipe or your flex fitting.

You even used legit flex pipe too. That looks like it should have worked, as long as there was enough pipe to clamp on to and the clamps were tight enough.

...Tubes falls apart,
the center cannot hold
. Mere exhaust is loosed upon the world. Cheap Chinese clamps are loosed, and everywhere, the sense of quiet is drowned. The flex lacks all connection, while the burst is full of passionate cacaphony.

I did the best that I could with what was left.

That’s my problem. There wasn’t much left on the left...

I’m just lazy. I have a welder at home, just no ambition to take the pipe off and do it right.

Have you been taking a creative writing class?

Yeats Muffler Shop - now offering catbacks.
Speech after long silence; it is right.

Not actually, but I like me the hell out of some Yeats, and badgering things into the shapes of other things is one of my specialties.

My experience is that replacing the whole chunk is usually less work than patching and repatching.

I did a temporary “repair” on mine to pass emissions testing. a little TOO temporary. the high temp gasket goo I used set rock hard and I was unable to undo my temporary change without the interceding of a hacksaw

That’s what you get for cheatin’.

Less work, yes. More cost? YES. There’s a converter after the flex that’s only sold as an assembly. Even the cheapest Made In China pipe is ~$250.00
This was $30 and a few hours after work of monkeying around.
