This is what is replacing the Kia Rio I said I wasnt replacing. It’s 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Had 31,000 miles when I bought it a week and a half ago. Now up to 34,000 miles. I bought because it was like new, under $22k, and had exactly what I was looking for (power, space, durability, no 4x4, navigation, no leather on the dash, keyless entry, the right color combos including the trimmings, and sexy). All these traits are exactly how I describe myself on Tinder.
Here is how it looked when I bought it (yes Im that jerk that buys a car an hour before closing).
All the plastics are made by Hemi (It’s a mom and pop shop out of Iowa, dont quote me on that though).
Coolest feature is that the driver side door can be opened from the inside.
Honestly this vehicle came out of no where. Id been looking since December for a possible replacement and just when I give up, boom, everything I was looking for. A blessing for since the Rio was behind where my personal needs were. On Tuesday Ill hopefully have the Rio sold. Then I can officially say I only own cars that I truly wanted, optioned exactly how I wanted them. So next up will be a manual two door, but I cant tell you what yet.

Nice!
And no AWD? So it’s RWD with a Hemi?

Probably, Ive been averaging around 800 miles a week. But Im only in Albuquerque about 9 months a year so Im not doing 40k annual miles anymore.

Yell heah! Im into tires so Ill rotate between All Seasons and Winter tires depending on mood and month. Also Im not into doing any crazy since I literally need this vehicle to last me at least 4 years. Lastly, I live in an area that rarely sees weather.

It is actually called True Blue. My family has two True Blue vehicles is the driveway, one of which is Grand Cherokee.

Congrats! Why no 4x4? Are they unreliable? Or just no need where you live?

I just don’t know how to care for those systems (do I have to check three differential fluids? How do tire rotations work out? Air suspension? Reliability since all the off-road brands seem to have the worst ratings?)
I’m just not ready to learn on a vehicle that will do this kind of mileage. The body integrety, durability of interiors, short overhangs, and styling make me prefer Jeeps, Land Rovers, and other offroad capable vehicles over any other SUVs for long term use though. So any offroad engineered vehicle without offroad equipment is better than any street focused vehicle in my mind. I work hard and I need a vehicle that can survive me more so than the environment.
That’s how my mind works anyways, doesn’t mean any of it is remotely factual or correct.
