I made a homemade short ram intake for my Focus with left over parts from me being an idiot and breaking things, but it allowed me to make a much better than stock intake system. For reference, here is what came out of the car:
It took a lot of sweat and a bit of blood, but I’m pretty proud of it.

Not without bypassing the MAF sensor, which is why I had to include that hunk of plastic.

Only at low rpms. When it heat soaks even that will disappear.

It’s far enough up inside the engine when installed that if it gets enough water to cause damage, many many other things will be going wrong too.
