When I moved from Bavaria to this island in the Baltic Sea I thought that I would enter a wasteland, beer-wise that is. Turns out it is quite the opposite. Störtebeker while being a bit more upscale has some very nice stuff. Their unfiltered Kellerbier is just on par with the Bavarians, but right now their Atlantik-Ale is my fav. It’s all about the hops. Hops, hops, and did I mention hops? All without the bitter taste of the usual northern German beers like Jever or so.
And I haven’t even ventured into this: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Unfortunately their site only comes in German, as they seem to be happy selling only locally.
What are you having tonight?

The island in the cool Baltic, though unnamed, sounds interesting to one on the hot, humid northwest Florida coast on the warm, hurricane-ready Gulf of Mexico, as does the beer. My go-to brewery lately has been Ommegang (

) out of Cooperstown, NY, with their Belgian-style brews (Three Philosophers!!), but tonight is a Dark and Stormy night with Gosling ginger beer and Kraken black spiced rum.

Silver City Scotch Ale - award winning and kick your head in 9.2 ABV, my current favorite local scotch ale, better than Pike Kilt Lifter.

Let the island no longer be unnamed.
