At least someone's using those extra pillows

My gf really likes decorative pillows. I think we have 8 pillows on our bed. I don’t even know the exact number. Every morning she puts them on the bed, arranging them just right , and then when it’s time to get in bed she piles them up in the corner of our bedroom with a pedestal lamp, a basket, and her yoga mat.

I have no idea why anyone would set themselves up to do all this putting on and taking off of pillows from the bed, for no reason other than decoration, but hey at least she takes care of the pillows and I don’t have to worry about them. She works only a few hours on Fridays, so she’s at home now, and before she hopped in bed for a nap, did the usual taking of pillows off the bed and placing them in the corner.

My cat, Oliver, decided to get some use out of the pillows. Because hey, if the humans aren’t using them for actual pillow purposes, might as well get some cat fur all over them. She texted me this evidence. I responded,

“At least someone’s getting use out of those extra pillows!”

So far, I haven’t gotten in trouble for this remark. Yet.

I feel you. Our bed has 6 pillows on it, two of which are used for sleeping. I make the bed in the morning so I have to arrange the sheets and comforter, then put the “sleeping” pillows on top of that, then prop up the “decoration” pillows on top of that.

I’ve gotten so used to it that I don’t even think about how ridiculous it is anymore.

I don’t understand why they do this. loads of decorative cushions on the sofa, chairs and bed. WHY!

Possibly decorate a sofa or chair *but your only going to move them when you sit down) but why decorate a bed, who’s going to see it?

Is it camouflage to hide the sofa, chairs and bed from burglars or something.

ONE of the seven pillows on my bed is decorative (and thus, the cats’). The rest are mine. All mine. It’s kind of like when you stay at a hotel and they have a variety of pillows marked with how soft or firm they are. I pick the one or two I want under my head and the rest cocoon me so I don’t toss and turn so much.

Ah yes, the alternative to mass quantities of pillows for decorative purposes, is mass quantities of pillows in which to cocoon oneself. Which I guess means that those cocoon pillows serve more of a function than decorative pillows. But that is another concept that baffles me, because when I sleep, I use a single pillow under my head, and if I had other pillows in there with me they’d just be in the way.
