Tried to sell the Civic Wagon to a family member that has quite the bad luck with cars and not running them into things. He called me and asked my opinion on an old Saab 900, and a beater Accord. I told him I’d sell him my wagon for cheap. Its body is beat, but it’s mechanically sound. All wheel drive for the winter, and 6 speed for the fun factor. Rear seats fold flat and it becomes cavernous, and I’d be more than willing to help if any issues arose. He sounded really interested, saying it would work perfectly for what he needed. Then, nothing. Complete silence. After a week of chasing him around, he came over, looked at it for less than a minute without even a test drive and decided it “wasn’t cool enough.” Instead, he got a Scion tC that’s been a problem since day 1. When he asked for my opinion on it, I sent him this:

Kinja'd!!!

Needless to say, he doesn't ask me car questions anymore.

I’m too busy doing homework to make a South Park meme but:

“If you’re going to buy a daily-driver car based only on how “cool” it is, then you’re going to have a bad time.”

I LOVE Civic wagons! But I’ve never had a RT4WD with a manual.

Hmm, that your car? MA plate? How cheap is cheap? :)

If he doesn’t think that the wagon is cooler than a tC, there’s something wrong with him.

How is he having problems with a Toyota? Does this guy purposefully break things?

That’s my wagon. It’s a blast to drive with the stick. I’m willing to let it go for $1000

This is a guy that the one time he asked to borrow his father’s truck, he crammed it into a telephone pole. Yes, he does.

Too bad it’s more miles than dollars away.

I’m very, very, very, very tempted. Looks like you’ve patched the rear wheelwells - ugly but effective. How are those headlights? Miles? Known issues? Take a MA sticker OK? This car is everything my BRZ is not - practical, cavernous, AWD, ugly... :) It would make a great winter beater / rallycross car.

I’ll be honest, I patched the quarters with duct tape, I can’t weld, no body shop will touch it, and you can’t get panels for this thing anywhere. The stock glass headlights shattered when I tried to get the metal clips off of them before baking them to reseal. I found both of these for $100 on eBay as opposed to new glass ones for $100 each. They’re actually a fair bit brighter than the stock ones and use regular old bulbs. No HIDs. It’s got 303k miles and runs strong. New timing belt and water pump, rebuilt alternator, new plugs and wires, new back up switch, belts, new valve cover gasket and valves adjusted, new upper control arms, lower ball joints, both tie rods, lifted an inch in front and two in the back with new struts and springs, 2000 15’ Civic wheels with new Firestone Winterforce tires, new hatch struts, new gas tank and filler neck, seat belts in front and new u-joints in the driveshaft. The a/c compressor needs a rebuild or replacement for the a/c to work, the obvious body rot, front sway bar links should be replaced, power ateering rack leaks a bit, and its steering wheel is off center because I’m lazy. It will take a MA inspection sticker fine, and that’s not just because I’m an inspector.

I've dailied a $1000 Niva for the last sixteen months. Your point is invalid.
