This is the cabin air filter in my wife’s CX-5 after three years and 27,000 miles. Yuck.

Kinja'd!!!

Good thing it was easy to change. Took me two minutes.

I pulled the elements out of Mrs McMike’s car earler this year and was SHOCKED at how dirty they were.

Then I realized when I “rolled over” the maintenance schedule at 120K and started with the 5K mile items, I skipped “zero”. It was supposed to be a 30K item, and that 30K fell on “zero,” so I missed it.

That’s a 60K pollen element.

This one is so gross because she keeps the A/C on all the time. Even when it’s nice outside. Having the windows down messes up her hair, she says. The Mazda reccomended service interval for it is two years or 25,000 miles, so I'm surprised it's not dirtier.

Ah, yes, very common among drivers who smoke asphalt.

We recommend them every 15k. I’ve seen them come out nasty at 12k and one year though. YMMV. That reminds me, our CX-5 turned a year old on the 29th and I haven’t changed it yet. Whoops.

Ah that's where we differ. I was too cheap to get a car with AC haha. Not really all that useful in the UK anyway.

It’s currently 95 degrees fairenheit with a heat index of around 110, so A/C is unfortunately a necessity here.
