While at the VW meet I was telling somebody how I had old copies of Foreign Car Guide - and all the VW accessories one could buy back then. Here’s some of them.
Most importantly, a beetle needs a supercharger.
Then you should get a four barrel exhaust from Abarth. Oh and a light to tell you when you’re out of gas, because volkswagens didn’t get a fuel gauge until 1962.
Then you should probably also get a stroker kit. Easy installation, do it at home! Have atomic power!
If the supercharger is too much for you, how about a dual carb kit? Probably works great with the stroker kit. You also need some flash springs to hold the hood up. But beware those cheap imitation hood springs!
Just buy a bunch of crap. You want door handle plates? Now you know where to get them.
Last but not least - why not invest in a better heater? 40% more heat for only $14.95 (only $115 adjusted for inflation).

Wow, before even scrolling down and seeing the picture, i thought “Judson supercharger.” A buddy had one on his ‘56 Oval, and said it made more noise than power. Cool though!

Well you have to figure it adds 50% more horsepower to 36hp. So honestly probably more noise than power.

Ran 9.3 1/4 beat Tommy Ivo 4Engine dragster.
Went 183 200 ft. before the 1/4 and caught air.

No fender mirrors?

I’ve never seen fender mirrors on Japanese Volkswagens but at least Yanase imported W112s had those.
Here’s a photo of former prime minister Yoshida Shigeru with his 300SE. You can see a glimpse of the mirror behind him.

That Aztec 7 is in my opinion the best looking Beetle kit car.

The Judson supercharger was also available on for the Renault Dauphine. You can take your 31 gross hp up to 46 gross hp!

I love that stuff. I have some old European car mags with some fun microcar accessories I should post. Sun visors for your Goggomobil, or Messerschmitt were a a must have.
