Had some bro pull up along side me in one of these while I was in the cobalt. He must have thought I had an SS or something since my exhaust is rusted out and loud. But he did the whole honk three times thing to try and egg me on to race him. I didn’t take the bait and he went flying ahead of me. I just thought to myself bro I have marvel themed family stickers on my back window. What makes you think I want to race you.

When I first got my Mustang back in 2005 I’d get that from guys in bro trucks and WRXs. Why they thought the 40 year old guy was going to race them I have no idea. The bro truck thing really surprised me. Like their 5,000 lbs behemoths with huge tires were going to beat anything off the line.

Why is it always someone in a G35? Most G35 drivers I’ve come across seem to just want to race or haul-ass 100% of the time. I’ll never understand.

I get this sort of encounter too often, it’s always G35/7 and Acura CL/TL drivers with painfully bright HIDs. Always let traffic clear before I give them a quick flyby, just to let them know who the boss really is.

A bro in a G35 did the honk thing at the light... While I was in an E92 M3. I botched the launch (I don’t daily a manual anymore :( ) but still destroyed him. Didn’t even go 15 over the speed limit. But seriously, I think these are performance bargains. Besides the bro’s that own them, they are pretty sweet rides.

So I drive a G37 and I like going fast, it’s hard not to if you slap it over into manual mode.

That being said, some of the cars that have tried to race me in the 4 months I’ve had my car are ridiculous. I had a Saturn try and race me on the freeway... that was comedy. I also had a FR-S try and race me, I’m pretty sure he wasn’t running FI so that was good for a laugh also.

Anyone driving a stock G who revs on a M3 is either an idiot or just trying to see what your car will do. When I had my IS I dropped it into neutral and revved on the freeway when I pulled up to a Lambo, not because I thought I had a chance in hell, I just wanted to see what he would do. He took off like a rocket and I got to hear that sweet sounding engine over my laughter.

I’ve never understood this car. I’ve driven quite a few of them and they are nice. But isn’t it just a 350Z with a different body? What is the point? The Z cars are soooooo cool....and then there is this...thing. I don’t get it. It’s like somebody went in to the dealership and said “I really want a Z car....but could find a boring sedan body and put it on the chassis because then I’d over pay for it”.

Am I off base here?

Was driving down the highway in my Roush Stage 3 Mustang a couple weeks back and some joker in a 4-door Hyundai Genesis was trying to get me to race. Just shook my head and laughed.

Because the 350Z has the most poorly-designed trunk ever.

Yes, just put a huge obnoxious brace that eliminates 1/3 of the total capacity and any chances of fitting a large object in there.

At least the G35 is a little more sensible. It’s also be a bit quieter and softer-riding. Think of it as the Mercury Cougar to the Ford Mustang or the Saabaru 9-2x Aero to the WRX wagon.
