Here are 2 Kakas (New Zealand forest parott) eating from a feeder. Saw a bunch of them earlier today at Zealandia in Wellington.

It is. Don’t forget about the Takahe (a blue bird with red legs, around 250 are alive), the Kakapo (a flightless parrot, less than 160 alive), the Weta (a grasshopper the size of a mouse) or the Kea.
The Kea is the same specie as the Kaka (Nestor parrots), but he is smarter, more curious, and a fucking ass hole. As he likes stealing stuff and heating cars, and he will find a way to open your backpack to steal the food that’s inside...

You were lucky to see them. A fun fact about kakapos is that all individuals has been named. Though some young ones might remain unnamed if they haven’t been found yet.
